Sammy Kayed
Researcher & Practitioner in Socio-ecological Futures
Sammy Kayed is a Senior Sustainability Expert with UNEP and Innovation Lead for the MSFEA Entrepreneurship Initiative at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He also co-founded the Environment Academy at AUB’s Nature Conservation Center. With 13 years of collaborative leadership experience, he works at the intersection of research and practice, leveraging transdisciplinary science to imagine alternatives to environmental and social breakdown. Sammy has developed more than 40 projects within academia, led 25 sustainability consultancies across MENA and the Mediterranean, and authored 13 peer-reviewed publications on conflict and environment, reflexivity in organizations, just transformations, grassroots innovation, and paradoxes in sustainability.
